Guide dog association for the blind

The Wills and Probate Department at Le Gallais & Luce have donated a percentage of its will-writing fees to the Jersey Branch of the Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Following this extremely successful campaign Le Gallais and Luce raised enough funds to pay for the training of a guide dog puppy named Star born on 27 December 2017.  Here she is:

Star is getting along really well as you can see:

“Star is a very bright and affectionate pup who’s settled in well to her new home, which she shares with pet cats, Lowen and Tawny/ She is fully house trained and sleeps well over night, although she has been waking up a little too early recently, possibly due to the neighbours who are very early risers or to the noisy seagulls outside. Star absolutely loves people can get over excited when greeting visitors at the moment, but her Puppy Walker is working hard on this and she is improving with age. On training walks, she is progressing well in all areas. She has been sounds and confident so far in all environments and she is walking nicely on a lead. Lovely pup, good start.”

Partner, Marianne Shaw, head of the Wills and Probate Department states ‘Le Gallais & Luce have had a long affinity with the Jersey Branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind dating back to 1938 when the charity’s first fund raising event, a golf competition held at the Royal Jersey Golf Club, was won by Mr Hedley Luce, Solicitor and one of the founding partners of the firm. In recent years a number of our clients have donated monies to the charity in their wills and as a result the Department has come to learn a great deal about the exceptional work that the charity undertakes on behalf of islanders with visual impairments. The wills initiative offered by Le Gallais & Luce was a great opportunity for the firm to support the local branch of the charity which provides much needed assistance to the local community.  We are really proud yo have sponsored Star’

Ken Syvret, Chairman of the Jersey Branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind, welcomed the initiative of Le Gallais & Luce saying “every pound raised for Guide Dogs means that a visually impaired person is that much closer to the assistance, freedom and companionship which the ownership of a Guide Dog provides. We are delighted to join forces with Le Gallais & Luce”.
