Armistice Day poppy display

1 November 2019

Le Gallais and Luce were so inspired by the WI’s display of plastic poppies in the Town Church in 2018, that we have decided to make our own display.  The display has been created by members of staff to commemorate Armistice Day and the whole project has been led by Nicki Brittain who works in our probate department.

Members of staff, family and friends started collecting plastic bottles back in April and it has taken many evenings and lunchtimes to complete the display, which consists of over 350 plastic poppies.  A special thanks goes to Acorn Enterprises who donated over 100 plastic bottle bases from a project that they are currently working on.

As well as the red poppies, we have also included purple to remember the animals who sadly lost their lives during the war efforts, white to pay tribute to those who died in conflicts, but emphasising an ultimate commitment to peace, and blue to pay tribute to the French nationals among us who have lost loved ones during conflicts.

The annual Poppy Appeal has been launched and we have some handmade badges, pins, earrings and pendants which we will be selling from our reception, with all funds raised going to the local branch of the British Legion.  Please pop in and see Alison, our receptionist, if you wish to purchase one and marvel at our display.
